Illustration and Visual Storytelling Workshop
Time: 10:00am to 1:00pm and 2:30pm to 6:00pm
Trainer: Carlo Giovani
Looking at the city, finding characters, and telling a story. In this illustration and visual narrative workshop that has the urban space around us as its theme, we will mix photography, printmaking, illustration, collage and social media, analog and digital processes, and tools.
Who are the protagonists of this story? What do they do? What do they see and what can they tell us? We will discover street situations and transform them into a fictional, collective work that will be published online, through the social network Instagram, exploring it as a narrative structure.
July 12th, Tuesday
Manipulating visuals with circuit bending and hardware hacking
Time: 10am-1pm and 2:30pm-6pm
Trainer: Inês Castanheira
In this workshop, we'll explore the hacking of video consoles to create tools that allow the generation and manipulation of real-time visuals, characterized by patterns and glitches originating from the games.
Participants will be introduced to circuit bending and hardware hacking strategies, exploring in an intuitive and artisanal way the modification of already outdated or discarded console systems, with no previous knowledge of electronics.
Throughout the session, there will be direct and creative contact with the electronic interior of consoles, in the search for and access to new aesthetic possibilities beyond their original functions. The workshop will cover the main concepts and techniques behind these hacking strategies, as well as some of the precautions to be taken in the DIY exploration of these electronic devices.

Exploring the Sensory City
Schedule: 10:00am to 1:00pm and 2:30pm to 6:00pm
Trainer: Marta Pombeiro
The places we pass through speak to us in many ways, they transmit sensations that involuntarily mark us. Sometimes they are the people and the buildings, other times they are the animals or the objects. If you listen and observe carefully the spaces around you, you may be able to discover new things. In this workshop, we will explore the city by collecting images and the sounds that inhabit it and thereby build new memories.
July 15th, Friday
Live Coding Workshop
Hours: 10:00 to 13:00 and 14:30 to 18:00
Trainer: Ricardo Vieira (Worten Digitópia Casa da Música)
Live coding consists in changing the code in real-time when a program is already running, being a performance tool used by several musicians. The approach to this creative process will result in a short musical piece using only software. The knowledge gained will then be applied in different contexts, such as the inclusion of acoustic instruments, MIDI controllers, and sound imaging.
