The Circuito's proposals for the final months of the year
After the usual summer break in August, Circuito - Braga Media Arts' Educational Service returns in September with a new programme full of activities for children, families, schools, seniors, professionals and amateurs, artists and anyone else who wants to join in.
The calendar starts at the beginning of September with the Circuito's 5th anniversary with the electronic music from ODE - Electronic Devices Orchestra (06 and 07 Sep), workshops from Escola dos Labirintos (07 and 08 Sep), and a series of guided visits to the exhibitions of Laboratórios de Verão (07 Sep). At the end of September, the programming ninjas return for another round of the workshop CoderDojo (21 Sep).
In October, music hides in numbers to be revealed at WE! Experimentation Workshops: 0 + 1 = SOM (08 to 10 Oct). The journey through the musical and sound universe extends to activities such as Music for Children: Analog Games and Teacher Training: Listening and Sound as tools for active and creative learning (both on 12 Oct). After music, the agenda turns to dance through three complementary activities: Dance of Inert Materials #3Movediço (18 Oct schools and 19 Oct general public) presents a series of installations and performances centered on the concept of movement; Partikulas Ridikulas (18 Oct), a workshop that challenges the public to "see the sound" and feel its shape; and BMA lab: Dance of Inert Materials (19 Oct), which invites the participants to explore and test the relationships between music, dance and space. The month ends with another series of guided tours at gnration (26 Oct) to the exhibitions "In my mother tongue, time and weather are the same", by Luiz Zanotello, and "Endless sun: the cinematic sunrise", by Hugo de Almeida Pinho.
The ODE - Electronic Devices Orchestra returns on 02 Nov for the final performance of this edition, led by musician Rui Souza. The second session of the Music for Children workshop keeps the fascination with sound alive and discovers Digital Games (09 Nov). As an extension to the show at gnration, Matthias Puech presents BMA lab: Inventing music, composing instruments (09 Nov). Artificial intelligence goes beyond the surface in two Teacher Training sessions (09 and 16 Oct). Digitópia Casa da Música also has two sessions this season with WE! Experimentation Workshops: The sound of spaces (12 to 14 Nov). Theatro Circo receives the Circuito cinema session with the collection of short films Mr. George has nothing to do with this (19 to 22 Nov schools and 23 Nov general public). Artist and mediator Joana Patrão bring together the best curiosities and details about the gnration exhibitions in another round of guided tours (23 Nov). After a concert at gnration, photographer and multimedia artist Leah Singer and musician Lee Ranaldo join up to lead the BMA lab: Considering the Shadow, in a masterclass that revisits the work of Portuguese artist Lourdes Castro.
From 03 to 05 December, the Winter Club combines music and image in a series of exploration and improvisation sessions led by Larie and Ana Mariz, giving life to a show presented later as part of OCUPA on 06 December. This season's last guided tour takes place on 7 December, led by Joana Patrão. The year ends with Introduction to Augmented Reality (AR) with Artivive (19 and 20 December), an activity that challenges kids to transform 2D works of art into virtual art pieces.
Circuito's ongoing programme also remains on the new agenda. The project AcustiCidade proposes a new sound journey through the city, this year under the careful eyes (and ears) of Marta Moreira and Pedro Sousa. The Mini Sound Map invites kids to visit Museu D. Diogo de Sousa, gnration, and Galeria Duarte Sequeira on a journey to discover the sounds of Braga's heritage. The Circuito also visits the schools with the project Diários de Bordo, led by Carlo Giovani.
The Circuito's Sept-Dec agenda is available in physical format at gnration, Theatro Circo, and other places in the city, and in digital format at bragamediaarts.com/circuito.
