Since 2021, the Master's in Media Arts has provided advanced training at the intersection of art, communication, and digital technology in Braga. To stimulate interaction between students and the city's cultural facilities, the master's programme has been promoting activities in the field of generative art - such as eMMA - serving as motor for the student's academic and artistic careers. This art exhibition is thus an opportunity to witness first-hand the transformative potential of digital art and technology in society.

After two editions filling the Galeria do Paço - Reitoria da Universidade do Minho, eMMA - Exhibition of the Master's Degree in Media Arts occupies the spaces of the gnration for the first time to present eight new pieces developed by the students. Through photography, sculpture, textiles, light, and sound, the third edition of the eMMA exhibition explores themes such as identity, memory, time and space, migration and artivism, generative processes of artistic creation, and much more.

You can visit the eight pieces on display until the end of July:

After humanity, by Anita Carvalho
The piece presents an interactive sculptural representation that reacts to touch, inviting the public to reflect on the physical and emotional connection between humanity and nature.

Espaço e tempo na fotografia, by Clara Santos
Based on the perception of time and space, the author presents a set of photographs of forgotten spaces that once had life, exploring how social dynamics shape and are shaped by the time and the places we inhabit.

(A)TENSION, by Bruno Mesquita
Using polycarbonate screens, lasers, membranes, and mirrors, this piece crosses established narratives and alternative perspectives to create spaces where the line functions as an essential element and sound as a transformative element.

Liminal landscapes, by Emília Simão
Entangled in the webs of liminality and techno-shamanic utopia, this piece creates an aesthetic experience that analyses spaces without a place, moments without time, and undefined consciousness.

Crisália, by Margarida Magalhães
Functioning as a symbolic element, this work presents an interactive narrative of image, sound, mapping, and textile that explores the act of dressing, seeking to identify and define individual, social, and cultural patterns.

Human Glitch, by Pedro Gonçalves
Centered on the experience of a panic attack, this immersive work invites the audience to explore human vulnerability, the deceleration of time, and the visual parallelism between mental collapse and technological error.

Conexões: Narrativas sonoras sobre o contrabando no Alto Minho, by Mariana Ramalhosa
Focusing on old smuggling practices, the installation combines sound and image to explore ways of preserving memory, recognizing how art helps to highlight other perspectives on social and historical issues.

Nas suas águas brincar, by Sol Silveira
Through immersive images and sounds, the audience is invited to dive into a sensory journey that explores the symbolism of water in the creation of life and the connection with the feminine.
