Jorge Ramos takes his work ‘BLUR’ to the Performing Media Festival in the USA
The work ‘BLUR’, developed by Portuguese artist Jorge Ramos, South Korean artist Anna Kim, and French artist Julien Gaillac, was selected to be part of the Performing Media Festival programme, as part of an exhibition presented at the South Bend Museum of Art in Indiana (USA).

Centered on a dystopian perception of virtual reality, BLUR is an interdisciplinary multimedia work developed in 2021 in a partnership between Jorge Ramos, Anna Kim, and Julien Gaillac. Through a video created by Gaillac, with visuals by Kim and sound by Ramos, the artists present a multidimensional vision of time and modernity, questioning whether virtual reality will still exist when our reality has been virtual for a long time.
Commissioned by the cities of Braga (Braga Media Arts, Portugal), Enghien-les-Bains (France), and Gwangju (South Korea), members of the Media Arts Cluster of UNESCO's Creative Cities Network, the work was created as part of the City to City: PLAY! 2021 project and was presented to the public for the first time during the session UNESCO City to City: PLAY!, which was broadcast online on Braga Media Arts' Facebook page from the Theatro Circo.
The collaboration between the three artists continued and in 2022 BLUR took on new dimensions, resulting in ‘BLUR 2.0’, a new work commissioned by Braga Media Arts and (at the time) Braga 27 - Braga's bid to become the European Capital of Culture. The piece was premiered during Braga's White Night, as part of the ‘Europe and Beyond’ exhibition at gnration.
BLUR will now be exhibited at the South Bend Museum of Art in Indiana (USA), as part of the programme for the Performing Media Festival [PMF ~ 2025] - an annual showcase of performative audiovisual works.
