Contemporary artistic performance practices constitute privileged spaces for innovative interdisciplinary work, sharing, and dialogue, as well as contestation and tension, which deconstruct the boundaries of traditional performances and create new paradigms of emerging practices and discourses in today’s world.

Created in 2026, the Braga International Video Dance Festival (BIVDF) celebrates the mechanics of movement through the union of the body (dance) and visual technology (video), becoming a platform for the dissemination, learning, and development of short choreographic artistic works.

This 9th edition, the festival challenges us to reflect on the concepts of ‘performance’ and ‘performativity’. Using video dance as a means of expression, the initiative invites national and international artists to present projects lasting up to 15 minutes, blurring the boundaries between arts, disciplines, and technologies, focusing on everyday and contemporary practices.

The aim is to promote original creations that challenge practices and trends. The projects will be judged by a jury and awarded prizes in the following categories:

  • Best Video Dance, prize of €500
  • Best Short Video Dance, prize of €500
  • Audience Choice, prize of €150

The open call, promoted by Arte Total, is open until 20 February 2025 and applications can be submitted via the FilmFreeway platform. The event will take place on 11 April 2025 in Braga.
