Until 15 November, the Casa das Artes Bissaya Barreto, in Coimbra (PT), is proposing a reflection on what remains or disappears at the limits of a place and is promoting an Open Call for its first exhibition of 2025, entitled ‘[Entre Paredes] - no fim de um lugar / [Between Walls] - at the end of a place’.

Walls can represent boundaries - but how do we draw the limits of the places that mark us throughout our lives? Among the walls that have already made a home, artists are challenged to think about what remains or disappears at the end of a place, beyond its physical boundaries. Through this open call, Casa das Artes Bissaya Barreto is looking for artists to fill its walls, challenging the memories and stories that rest on them. The proposals can include the areas of sculpture, installation, painting, or multimedia.

The open call closes on 15 November and the selected projects will have the opportunity to integrate the first exhibition of 2025 - ‘[Entre Paredes] - no fim de um lugar / [Between Walls] - at the end of a place’. Casa das Artes Bissaya Barreto is committed to paying the selected artists 150€ + VAT, as well as managing the communication and supporting the preparations for the exhibition. Through a partnership with Robbialac Paints, paints will be provided according to the artists' needs. The pieces on display may be available for sale, subject to the organisation providing a price list in advance.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 11 January to 8 March 2025.

Applications for the open call can be made using the form available here.
