The development of experimental and original artistic work is the essence of the Laboratórios de Verão. The result of a partnership between CIAJG - José de Guimarães International Arts Centre (Guimarães), gnration (Braga) and Solar - Cinematic Art Gallery (Vila do Conde), the initiative has established a prominent position in supporting artistic creation in the Braga district.

This year, the programme returns for its 11th edition with an open call that challenges artists and collectives natural or based in the district of Braga or the municipality of Vila do Conde, to present performances, installations, or exhibitions in the fields of image, sound, performance, interactivity, music, dance or a cross between those areas. The open call will select four winners, who will have the opportunity to develop original artistic proposals in a residency of 2 weeks, taking place at CIAJG, gnration, and Solar (spread across the institutions between July and August 2025). After being presented to the public in these same venues the winning projects will also be included in the programme of LAC - Laboratório de Actividades Criativas (Lagos).

The selected artists will be supported with a prize of €2,000 (referring to the artist's fee and the purchase of materials), help with the production and technical side of the project, curatorial support, and additional money support to be agreed between the artist and the organization for a possible presentation at LAC.

Applications are open until 6 April, and the results will be announced on 9 May.
