OPEN CALL: UNESCO Creative Cities Network
The open call to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) is now open.
Until March 3, cities in the UNESCO Member States can apply to join the UNESCO network that distinguishes the world's urban centers as drivers in the fields of Architecture, Crafts and Folk Art, Design, Film, Gastronomy, Literature, Media Arts, and Music.

Since 2017, Braga has been part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN), standing out as an urban reference in the field of Media Arts, a title that led to the creation of Braga Media Arts.
As in previous years, UNESCO is once again launching a call for proposals so that various urban areas worldwide can show their presence and strength in the sustainable development of communities by applying to the Creative Cities Network in one of the seven areas. To become a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN), candidate cities must belong to UNESCO member states and submit an application that demonstrates their cultural and creative potential, as well as a four-year action plan that includes specific projects, initiatives, or policies to be implemented if they are selected as one of the cities to join the Network.
Candidate cities can be recognized in seven creative areas: Architecture, Crafts and Folk Art, Design, Cinema, Gastronomy, Literature, Media Arts, and Music. These fields are thematic focuses for member cities to develop their cultural and creative assets, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and experiences with other urban spaces.
With the introduction of the new creative area of Architecture, the Network's member cities can request to change their creative area by contacting the UCCN Secretariat at creativecities@unesco.org.
The open call to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) ends on 3rd March. More information and regulations are available at www.unesco.org.
