A benchmark in photographic culture in Portugal, Encontros da Imagem is back for its 35th edition and is promoting two open calls: one for the Encontros da Imagem Award and a second for Portfolio Reviews 2025.

With the aim of promoting different visions and approaches to visual literacy, these awards seek to highlight work that explores the limits of contemporary photographic construction, giving participants the opportunity to see their work exhibited in the new edition of the international photography festival, as well as published in the Encontros da Imagem 2025 catalogue.

The winner of the Encontros da Imagem Prize will receive €1,000 and the winner of Portfolio Reviews 2025 will receive €3,000 and a solo exhibition in 2026. The portfolio reviews will be held in person on 18 and 19 September 2025 in Braga, Portugal.

The open calls are open until 27 April (for the Encontros da Imagem Award) and until 18 May (for the Portfolio Reviews 2025 Award). Encontros da Imagem returns between 18 September and 2 November, with exhibitions in various cities in the north of Portugal.
