When sound becomes movement: Marta Cerqueira and Simão Costa bring collaborative work to Circuito
‘Dance of Inert Materials’ is a series of installations and performances by Marta Cerqueira and Simão Costa. After presenting the third piece in this collection, #3Movediço, as part of the Circuito programme, the duo will lead a workshop (on 19 October) analysing the role of mechanical devices in creating performances.
The state of body awareness is part of the relationship between music, dance, and space. Inspired by this reality Circuito - Braga Media Arts Educational Service presents ‘BMA lab: Dance of Inert Materials - Relations between music, dance and space’.
Based on the show ‘Dance of Inert Materials #3Movediço’, choreographer and dancer Marta Cerqueira and musician and composer Simão Costa lead a practical and reflective workshop about how body awareness and modes of sound visualisation influence artistic practices. During this session, the duo will explore the use of mechanical devices in artistic creation, revealing how sound shapes stage performance dynamics, using the mechanical sculpture in their show as an example.
