Open Call
European Media Art Platform (EMAP) Launches Open Call for Artist Residencies in 2027
The initiative, co-funded by the European Union’s Creative Europe program, aims to support the creation of new works and promote exchange and collaboration among European artists, with grants of €4,000. Applications are open to individuals or artistic collectives residing in the European Union.
Applications are available at call.emare.eu.
Applications for the 2027 edition of the program open today, September 3, at call.emare.eu. Residents of a European Union member state or a country on the list of eligible non-EU countries may apply until November 6 at 1:00 p.m. Emerging artists, regardless of age or academic background, are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applicants must propose an artistic project in the fields of digital art, media art, robotic art, and bioart, to be carried out during a two-month residency in 2027 at one of the network’s member institutions. Accommodation is provided by the host institution, which will assist and support the artists with their technical needs and provide them with a workspace.
The selected artists will also receive a grant of 4,000 euros, a production budget of the same amount, have their travel expenses covered, and have the expenses of a collaborating partner covered by an additional grant of 2,000 euros. They will also be invited to a conference and meeting to be held in March at LABoral in Gijón, Spain. Please visit emare.eu for further details.
In addition to supporting contemporary works at the intersection of art, technology, and science, this program also helps enhance the international visibility of the works produced. Initially, the works are exhibited at the host institution. Subsequently, they will also be presented in solo or group exhibitions at the platform’s member institutions. There is also the possibility of them being shown in international contexts through a network of more than 150 partner institutions worldwide.
Applications are now open at call.emare.eu. Each application must include a resume, audiovisual documentation of previous work, and a preliminary project outline. It is not necessary to confirm collaborators at the time of application. Applicants may submit multiple projects and continue to edit them until the deadline.
