eMMA returns for the 5th edition of the Media Arts Master's Program exhibition

In 2026, gnration will once again accept artistic proposals from a group of emerging artists through eMMA—the Master’s in Media Arts Exhibition at the University of Minho. From July 17 to 25, the group exhibition will showcase works by eight students, prompting reflections on the relationship between technology, perception, participation, landscape, and new forms of existence and interaction.

At the intersection of art, communication, and technology, students are encouraged to explore innovative forms of artistic expression. With a curriculum focused on hands-on, practical, and project-based learning, emerging artists use tools and concepts from digital art and the field of technology to develop new works and projects in the realm of Media Arts.

The opening is free and will take place on July 17 at 5:30 p.m.; the exhibition will be on view at gnration through the 25th, featuring eight pieces:

*Latent Figures*, by Miguel Teixeira, transforms air into magnetic gravity. Within this vacuum, a presence takes root, breathing within the listener rather than echoing around them.

“Quadriphonics Triptych,” by Carlos A. Correia, is an installation resulting from an exercise in the poeticization of vibrational fields and post-anthropocentric speculation.

Caixa Negra is a sculpture constructed from CRT televisions and other discarded devices, arranged as an open system of images, sounds, and exposed circuits. A creation by Guilherme Maranhão.

Design After Control: Infrastructures of the Visible, by Ilídio Menezes, explores how technical systems regulate access to images, information, and visibility.

"Vital Connections", by Eduardo Brito, creates a world—far removed from everyday life—where people can interact with one another, creating moments of connection that nurture the participants’ playful spirit.

"Listening to the Invisible" is an audiovisual journey that draws attention to what normally goes unnoticed in our daily experience of the landscape. The work is by Verónica Lobo.

"Don’t Forget", by Maria Moura, explores two contrasting concepts that we witness every day through the electronic devices that surround us. The participants become the protagonists of this work—the power is in their hands.

"Entre", a work by Diana Gil, is an installation that explores “being in between” as a space of resistance, suspension, and existence.
